OUR DESIGN PROCESS
Every client, space, and project are unique. During conceptual design, the WID team puts themselves in your world. Designers listen to your requirements for the project and space, understand and evaluate the problems that need to be solved, and begin inspiration driven research. Designers provide a comprehensive program, including budget analysis, zoning review, and plan-of-action outline.
Once the team has gained a strong understanding of the project goals, schematic design begins. WID team members collaborate to create innovative solutions, presented to you through a well-defined design concept. Color palettes, concept boards, drawings, renderings, or models provide a physical representation of your vision. Designers meet with you to discuss your options and guide you in selecting and approving the conceptual design for your space.
Now that you have a firm grasp on the design concept for your space, WID develops the design. During design development, designers select furniture, fixtures, equipment, finishes deliver floor plan drawings, renderings, contractor recommendations, and a preliminary cost estimate. Designers communicate frequently to keep you informed throughout the design process, ensuring projects remain within the agreed upon budget and timeline.
When the design is fully developed, the WID team acts as a liaison for you, builders, and suppliers. In the construction documentation phase, designers prepare construction documents - taking the project from the digital world into the physical space. Designers specify and draw all details needed in the drawing set along with sections and elevations, and coordinate with the contractor to ensure the design comes to fruition.
In the construction administration phase, designers coordinate with the contractor and/or architect to facilitate the procurement of building permits, review final pricing and shop drawings, answer questions, visit the site, and provide additional drawings as necessary. Once everything is installed, designers perform a punch to ensure every detail conforms to the contract specifications.
Finally, your dream space is a reality. Designers photograph the completed transformation and conduct a post-occupancy survey to ascertain the success of the design.
